Yamaha U1 48" Studio Upright

 

The Yamaha U1 is the most popular of Yamaha's upright pianos. Purchased new, in 1989 from local Yamaha dealer Piedmont Piano, this upright has been owned by only one person, a professor of music at Mills College. The piano has a nice sound and is not too bright considering its pedigree. If you're looking for a Yamaha upright, this is a good one at a reasonable price, and has a full 5-year warranty.

C.BECHSTEIN model A - Parlor Grand Piano

 

Purchased new from us in 1999, this wonderful parlor grand has a Renner Action which is unbelievably quick and sensitive, and more like a concert grand piano than any of its peers. Built 100% in Berlin  with genuine German components (unlike the C. Bechstein pianos built today) it has a solid Bavarian Spruce soundboard that produces a lush full sound, fuller than many larger grand pianos. Compare this to any other European grand like Steinway, Grotrian or even the Bechstein pianos built today! It's absolutely amazing.

Yamaha G2 Grand Piano

 

Best known for its value, this 5'8" grand piano is a typical Yamaha in all aspects. Purchased new from a local dealer, it would be hard to beat the price for a grand piano of this size, and for a used Yamaha grand this price is exceptional. The cabinet, in polished ebony, has some surface scratches but the piano is in good condition and comes with a matching bench.

Steinway D - 9' Concert Grand - Ebony with Burl Inlay

 

The undisputed King of Concert instruments, this Steinway D is a glorious sounding beast. Originally built in 1927, the piano was completely restored in Germany this year to Hamburg Steinway specifications. The powerful bass and resonant treble is the standard by which all other concert grand pianos are measured.

Chickering 5'4 Grand Piano

 

The Chickering "quarter grand" was the predominant grand piano for home use throughout much of the golden era of pianos in the United States (1900-1940). The most famous pianists of the time, including George Gershwin, were avid enthusiasts of Chickering products. This is a fabulous Chickering baby grand, finished in classic satin ebony, and in excellent condition. You will find its tone to be warm and clear, and surprisingly deep given its size.

Kawai 5'10 RX-2 - Like New - in SATIN EBONY

 

This excellent piano was purchased NEW in 2006 and recently traded in for a European Grand piano. The finish is classic matte black (satin Ebony) and is absolutely perfect. Compare the clean sound and responsive action to any Yamaha C3 or Steinway L or O.

Yamaha 45" Studio Upright

 

Purchased new in 1990 from local Yamaha dealer Piedmont Piano, this is a nice studio upright. The cabinet is in beautiful polished Walnut and the piano has been in one family since new. It has a matching bench and full warranty.

Irmler 122 Professional Studio by Blüthner

 

Produced in 2006 by the famed German piano builder Blüthner in it's Leipzig Germany factory, this piano has a sweet warm sound. The cabinetry is polished German Cherry and the instrument is in perfect condition. It has the tonal properties of a fine Baby Grand piano, and the action is both responsive and firm. Irmler pianos were the piano of choice by the composer Mendelssohn, and it is easy to understand his "Songs without Words" when you are listening to this instrument.

C. Bechstein 5'11 Model M Klassik Grand Piano

 

Built in Berlin in 1993, this instrument was sold by R.KASSMAN to a prominanty San Francisco family. In immaculate condition, this is the Klassik cabinetry style that Bechstein is famous for, coupled with renowned piano design by Swiss master Lothar Thomma. Genuine Renner action (superior to Bechstein today), and genuine Ebony sharps, the action is smooth and ultra responsive. The tone is round and clear, a Bechstein trademark of the 1980's - 2000. Petrof built Weinbach - hand made in Czech Republic. This fabulous upright piano, finished in gleaming mahogany was  was purchased new from us in 1997 and is in excellent condition. Built by the infamous Aeolian company, Hallet and Davis has a long history of building solid instruments for home use. This piano is in a satin American Walnut finish and has a matching bench. It would be a great piano for a beginner or where space is at a premium.

Yamaha Disklavier G2 Grand Piano

 

Beautiful Yamaha 5'7'  G2 Disklavier Grand Piano . Built in 1991 and well cared for. Recently traded for a European grand piano, it is in great shape cosmetically and musically,. Soundboard, pinblock and other structural components are in excellent condition. This piano is so much fun to have!


The Disklavier unit has record, play, tempo, transpose and other features, and DG2R model has a separate unit for the Disklavier that can be placed elsewhere in the room. The Yamaha factory installed player mechanism allows you to insert CDs into the unit and the piano plays the music, with they keys going up and down, just as if there were a real person playing it. It also can record what you play and play it back for you, and even transpose it into another key. The piano is an acoustic piano, that works just like any other grand piano. In the 1990's, Kawai's North Carolina facility produced these small studio pianos with quality materials and craftsmanship not found in today's Indonesian built instruments. It has a wonderful clear tone, and an incredibly well balanced action. You will be surprised at how much piano this is for the dollar.

Built at the turn of the century, this piano is unique with its scrolled music desk and turned fluted legs. Steinway Studio Piano

 

In a classic American Walnut finish, with gorgeous carved Italian Provincial legs, this 1960's studio is a connoisseurs dream. It has the legendary  Steinway performance capability, and a warm full tone, but is small enough to fit in any living environment. In original condition, the piano is in immaculate shape. While there are certainly less expensive upright pianos, none has the pedigree that this Steinway can claim.

Kawai 6' Parlor Grand Piano

 

An excellent parlor grand with a full sound and responsive action, this used Kawai 6' grand piano is an excellent choice for the novice or professional seeking a reasonably priced big grand. The cabinet, in Ebony polish, is showing signs of age with scratches and rub marks, but the instrument is in great mechanical and musical condition. Compare this to any C3 Yamaha and you will be amazed at how lush and full a piano this size can sound at this price point.

Kawai Professional 51" Upright Piano

 

We sold this piano new in 1984, and the family just upgraded to a grand piano. The instrument is in perfect condition, and is completely warranted. It has the lush, full sound that Kawai earned its reputation on, and this piano was made long before Kawai started producing pianos in Indonesia. The entire piano was crafted in Japan, and has the performance capability of many grand pianos.

Wurlitzer Spinet Piano

 

Amercia's value-oriented piano maker for generations, Wulritzer built these pianos by the thousands. They were stable instruments and novice piano students in the 1960's thru 1980's all grew up on pianos of this nature. The piano is in very good mechanical condition, and the furniture is classic satin ebony and in good shape.

Ludwig Upright Grand Piano

 

Built in 1908, this instrument represents the glory days of piano building in the United States. The Ludwig Piano was honored with a high award at the Paris Exposition of 1900 and it was given the highest award for pianos at the Pan American Exposition. Buffalo, N. Y., 1901, also the London Crystal Palace Exposition, London, England in 1902. A number of prominent artists and musicians of the day endorsed the Ludwig piano in terms of the highest praise. This piano has IVORY keys and a beautiful Mahogany finish.

The Ivers and Pond Company was established in Boston and became part of the Aeolian family of piano brands. From its earliest inception, Ivers & Pond pianos were of high quality. Teresa Carreno, foremost pianist of her time; Walter Damrosch, long-time conductor of the N.Y. symphony and pioneer radio conductor; Cecile Chaminade, eminent French composer; the pianist Alfred Reisenauer, John Philip Sousa-these are but a few of the many great artists who played Ivers & Pond pianos on the concert stage or owned, used and admired them in private life.
